How 'bout a ham sandwich?

So...I got the scripts for next week's commercial shoot and in one spot I see that I am supposed to making a peanut butter sandwich. Ruh-roh. I am EXTREMELY allergic to peanuts. I sent an email to my commercial agent (Hugh), and his assistant (Dawn), asking if they would let the production company know that I can't handle peanut butter.

Whenever I book something, until I am actually on the set SHOOTING, I am always nervous that it's going to fall through. It ain't a real deal 'til the ink is dry. I have been un-booked on a few occasions, so there's always a little bit of "what if?" there For that reason, I will go out of my way NOT to make waves (not that I try to make waves any other time, I'm just saying...)

As I hit "send" on the email, I just knew I was going to look like a weirdo, but I had no choice - If I handle peanut butter, it's probably going to land me in the hospital.

So Dawn called me back immediately and told me she totally understood because she is (get this) allergic to peanuts too! We talked about this a bit, admonished one another to carry epi-pens, and she assured me that she would take care of this.

Friday morning she called me to let me know that I would be making ham sandwiches instead.

If I were also a vegetarian, or adverse to handling slivers of dead swine, I wonder how this might have played itself out...
