Customer Service? Bah!!

For those of who were concerned that I may have gotten "put away" for my visit to the bank the other day, I want to assure you that I am still free and unfettered. I sat in the waiting area taking deep breaths to soothe myself until a very nice customer service rep collected me. I explained the situation, she said "That never should have happened. Our computers are supposed to be set up to keep that from happening." Then when she looked at my account, she said "OH, you have THAT kind of transfer." And proceeded to tell me why I was screwed. Too late. If she (as an employee) was confused, then how could she not expect me to be confused? She was sympathetic but sat quietly staring at the computer screen shaking her head and (I think) wishing I would go away sadly. She got me wrong. I just sat there and looked at her. I wasn't giving her the evil eye or anything, just the regular eye. "So what can you do for me, because this is a BIG problem?" All of a sudden, she told me she was going to reverse the charges, something which I had been previously told "just wasn't possible". Customer service people can do what they want to do, it's just easier for folks to blow you off over the phone than in person.

With her being so nice and 'helpful', I didn't have the heart to close my account right then and there. Instead I waited a day, went to the ATM to withdraw the little bit of money that I still had in the account, then called customer service to close it. No more of that for me.
