Wrote a script today...

There's an idea that's been bouncing around in my head all week. This morning I got up and, in one sitting, wrote the pilot episode for a TV drama series. Here's the weird thing, though--I think it could be a 1/2 hour drama. I called a friend to ask if he knew of any half-hour dramas and neither of us could think of any. Why aren't there any half-hour dramas?? Or hour-long comedies, for that matter? I'm going to call the DGA and find out. If it just CAN'T (ugh, I hate that word) be done, I can combine episodes 1 & 2 (which is still bouncing around in my head).

Today, Scott Jones, the President of
Artist View Entertainment spoke to my theatre company (at The Meisner Center). I learned a lot about film distribution (what sells, where, and what doesn't), and the importance of talking to a sales person BEFORE making a film, so you can shoot it in such a way that you will be able to sell it later.

This upcoming Wednesday, Actor, Writer, Director, Producer
Bill Duke will be speaking to my theatre company. I'll let you know how it goes.

I really need to go to bed. I have to go work tomorrow. I'm working on the Black Movie Awards for the next couple of weeks. I stay up late b/c I'm always working on SOMETHING. I feel like I need to always be creating something. Instead of waiting and depending on someone to give me a "break", I want to also be creating work for myself and other artists.
Hey, all art comes from the same place. Artist just choose which medium they want to use to express themselves.

Alright, goodnight.
