Standing still...

Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to determine the best way to move forward. I have chosen to stand still for a bit. This is not easy for me, because my off switch stopped working a few years ago. I have to fight against the idea that I'm going to miss something important. In standing still, though, (even though it has been a short period of time so far), I am starting to see some things that I was too 'busy' to see before. When I moved to Los Angeles, I already knew I was an artist--I didn't know anything about "the business" though. I have worked hard to change that. However, in my haste to become "successful" in my acting career, the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction, and I am neglecting my artistic side. Just yesterday I was chillin' on the couch, watching TV and saw an old (2003) episode of "Cold Case". There was a character in the episode that made me say "Yes! THAT'S the kind of character I want to play." Not just for a paycheck (though I ain't never mad at getting paid), but for fulfillment.

So...I'm taking some time to be still, quiet, and reconnect with myself. My mother is coming to visit tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to spending time with her as well.

Talk to ya soon.

    Nicole,

It is so good to hear that you are standing still and enjoying the moment. Yes you are an artist and a great one at that.

    Your Friend,
