Since my last post, my finances got dangerously low. That happens sometimes when you work from project to project and don't know where your next dime is coming from. Income dips and expenses don't (not on their own, anyway), so then comes the cutbacks: if I stop going to painting class for awhile, I can keep going to acting class. If I cut here, I can get more headshots duplicated so that I can do drops to casting directors.
Prioritizing. It feels a lot like gambling. On me.
It's a game of chicken that showbiz plays with me. Who will turn the wheel first? I've flinched a few times, but never turned back. I'm still here, so I guess I'm okay. Not gonna taunt the fates, though.
That said, I've booked 2 jobs since my last post! Another co-star role on a pilot (shoot was a TON of fun), and a commercial. I shoot the commercial next week, and can't say what it is yet, but it's a national spot for a well-known company, and get to work with a director who's also very well known, and whose feature film work I've admired for a long time. In fact, he has a movie out right now that I'm planning to see this weekend.
This is how it goes. Ebb & flow. And I'm (mostly) enjoying the journey.
